THE SITUATION
Wildlife Conservation is important to protect animal species and their environments in order to decrease species extinction. It is our responsibility to take initiatives and do what we can to ensure that our precious wildlife remains in existence for future generations. In doing so, it will provide our children and our children's children the chance to be able to experience and understand the importance that wildlife and environment conservation plays for humans and other species alike. With this being said, wildlife extinction is happening at a rapid pace globally, to give you an example, at least one hundred to one thousand times higher than nature intended. Scientists argue that mammal, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish populations have declined fifty two percent over the last forty years. One viable solution to contribute to the crisis is to seize the time we have left and find ways to educate yourself and take advantage of volunteer programs like the ones we offer. Our programs give you a chance to learn more about these majestic species and allow you to get hands-on, up close and personal with the wildlife. Education and awareness is fundamental to the balance of nature.
If wildlife conservation is something that lies in your passion zone, then you will be provided with an incredible, once in a lifetime opportunity to view the spectacular wildlife in some of our program destinations, learn about how they live in the wild, and make a personal contribution to conservation efforts. As a volunteer, here is an example of how you can get involved while working in a wildlife conservation program: logging the times and frequency animals are sighted, animal tracking using footprints and sounds, clearing trails and paths of obstructions, bush walks and game drives, bush camp (navigation, orientation, survival, sleep out), in-class lectures and presentations, and many more.
